F1 Mini Goldendoodle Shedding

Do F1 Mini Goldendoodles Shed?

F1 Mini Goldendoodles are classified as as a light to non-shedding breed. One of the reasons why the Miniature Poodle was originally crossed with the Golden Retriever was to reduce the heavy shedding trait of the Golden Retriever whilst retaining its good nature and temperament.

Are F1 Mini Goldendoodles Hypoallergenic?

Yes, F1 Mini Goldendoodles are considered to be hypoallergenic. Dogs are hypoallergenic when they don’t shed much and therefore don’t release much allergy inducing dander (dead skin cells) into their immediate environment. That being said, there are other generations of Mini Goldendoodle that are more hypoallergenic than the F1 generation e.g F1b or F1bb Mini Goldendoodles.

You can make your dog even more hypoallergenic by keeping up a good grooming routine as it will stop them from releasing allergens into your home.

Your dog’s grooming routine should include both brushing and bathing. A brush down with a slicker brush every other day is ideal to remove any loose hairs. As for washing, a bath with a gentle dog shampoo every 3 months will remove dead skin cells, dirt and debris.

This may not seem that often but you don’t want to over wash your dog otherwise their coat will dry out which will only cause flaky skin which is an allergy irritant.

Generation Comparisons

What Is The Difference Between An F1 and F1b Mini Goldendoodle?

F1 Mini Goldendoodles are first generation while F1b Mini Goldendoodles are the first back-cross generation. F1b Mini Goldendoodles are created by breeding an F1 Mini Goldendoodle with a Miniature Poodle while an F1 Mini Goldendoodle is created by breeding a Golden Retriever with a Miniature Poodle.

The main difference between an F1 and an F1b Mini Goldendoodle is the genetic makeup. An F1b Mini Goldendoodle is 25% Golden Retriever and 75% Miniature Poodle while an F1 Goldendoodle is 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Miniature Poodle.

F1 Mini Goldendoodles are created by breeding a Golden Retriever with a Miniature Poodle while an F2 Mini Goldendoodle is created by breeding an F1 Mini Goldendoodle with another F1 Mini Goldendoodle. Both generations have the same genetic makeup of 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Miniature Poodle.
