When Is A Chorkie Full Grown?

Chorkies are fully grown between 10 and 12 months of age. This range is only a guide as there can be a lot of variability for growth rates of Chorkies as they are a mixed breed dog.

Once your puppy is fully grown you’ll need to start investing in dog products that you’ll keep for their whole life such as:

How Big Is A Chorkie Full Grown?

A full grown Chorkie is 6 to 9 inches (15.2cm to 22.9cm) tall and weighs between 8 and 10 pounds (3.6kg to 4.5kg). There is only one size of Chorkie so all adult Chorkies fall within this weight and height range.

Is My Chorkie Overweight?

Your Chorkie may be overweight if you have to push through excess fat to feel their ribs and if don’t have a visible waistline. Your Chorkie may be underweight if you can see or feel the ridges of their ribs. When looking at a Chorkie from a birds-eye view they should have a subtle hourglass figure. If the hourglass figure is very prominent or severe, your Chorkie may be underweight.

There are a range of reasons why Chorkies may become underweight but the main ones are if you are underfeeding or over exercising them. Another common cause is sickness and if this is the case you should definitely go to a vet for a check-up.

A full grown Chorkie gets to a height of 6 to 9 inches (15.2cm to 22.9cm) tall at the shoulder. All Chorkies fall within this height range as there is only one size of Chorkie. Generally, female Chorkies are slightly shorter than male Chorkies.

What Does A Full Grown Chorkie Look Like?

Full grown Chorkies are tiny dogs with a round face, short muzzle and distinctive triangular shaped ears. They have dark button noses and dark brown or black eyes. Chorkies usually have medium length silky fur that is either cream, tan and black or brown.

Birth to 2 Weeks

Between birth and 2 weeks of age, Chorkies are deaf and blind. They are unable to look after themselves and are fully dependant on their mothers as the only senses they have are taste and touch. Chorkies spend majority of these 2 weeks sleeping and nestling as close to their mother as they can. Their muscles are not developed and they cannot walk.

3 Weeks to 12 Weeks

From 3 weeks to 3 months of age, Chorkies start to become more independent. At the beginning of this period they will get their hearing and sense of smell. Their eyes and ears open so they become much more inquisitive about the world. They start to interact with litter mates, bark and walk a little as their muscles start to get stronger.

Chorkies start to become more aware of their surroundings and start to interact with others. Weaning begins during this stage so they start eating food other than their mother’s milk. By 8 weeks, they have full use of their senses and usually go to their new home.

4 Months to 6 Months

Teething begins between 4 and 6 months of age. Many Chorkies undergo a big growth spurt at this age as they are only eating puppy food now. At this age, your Chorkie will be at least half their adult weight.

7 Months to 9 Months

Most Chorkies reach sexual maturity between 7 and 9 months of age. Female Chorkies go through their first heat if they are not desexed.

10 Months to 12 Months

Chorkies are fully grown by 12 months of age. They’ll get their adult coat and you’ll eventually have to swap over to adult food. At this age Chorkies are extremely active and also very inquisitive. They love exploring their world and learning new things.

Unfortunately, this is the age where you might start having problems with your Chorkie as it is the adolescent stage. Chorkies may start displaying some regressive behavior like not listening to your training commands, being a bit aggressive or chewing up stuff. This is especially the case if your Chorkie is not desexed as their hormones will start to kick in. Just remember that this won’t last long and be patient as your Chorkie is a teenager.
