Parti Goldendoodle Guide: Everything You Need To Know!

Parti Goldendoodles (AKA Parti Groodles) are a mixed breed dog with a distinctive bi-color coat consisting of white and a secondary color. What Is A Parti Goldendoodle?

A Parti Goldendoodle has a white base coat that covers at least 50% of their body with a secondary color marbled through it. Most of the time the secondary color is apricot, red or cream. It’s also relatively common for the secondary color to be chocolate or black.

Are Parti Goldendoodles Rare?

Parti Goldendoodles are rare as the coat comes from a recessive gene that comes from the Poodle side. Parti Goldendoodles are never found in first generation litters. You’re more likely to find a Parti Goldendoodles in cross-back generations e.g. F1b, F1bb or F2b.

Red Parti Goldendoodles have a white base coat that covers at least 50% of their body with red patches. The red patches can range in color from a reddish cream to a rusty brown color and are usually located on their ears, around their eyes and on their backs.

Like solid Red Goldendoodles, the red patches of a Red Parti Goldendoodle can fade. Coat Types

There are three main coat types Parti Goldendoodles can have: wavy, curly or straight hair. Wavy and curly coats are the most common. Straight coats are pretty rare for Parti Goldendoodles as they are usually seen in reverse Goldendoodle generations where the Goldendoodle has been bred back to a Golden Retriever instead of a Poodle. Reverse Goldendoodles hardly ever have a parti coat as they have a higher percentage of Golden Retriever genes than Poodle genes.

Curly Coat

Most Parti Goldendoodles have curly coats. They are much denser and thicker than wavy coats and more closely resemble the coat of a Poodle. Curly coats are one of the most common coat types as Parti Goldendoodles are found in cross-back generations where the Goldendoodle has been bred back to a Poodle e.g. F1b, F1bb and F2b Goldendoodles. Curly coats are usually more hypoallergenic than other coat types.

Wavy Coat

Wavy coats are the next most common Parti Goldendoodle coat type. Their coats feature light, loose waves which gives them a teddy bear appearance. Wavy coats are generally easier to groom than curly coats as they are easier to brush.

Straight Hair

Straight hair coats are extremely rare for Parti Goldendoodles as straight hair usually occurs in generations that have a higher percentage of Golden Retriever genes than Poodle genes and the parti coat pattern can only be inherited from the Poodle. They are usually not as hypoallergenic as wavy or curly coat Goldendoodles.

Parti Goldendoodle Generations

Can An F1 Goldendoodle Be Parti?

No, an F1 Goldendoodle can not be parti as the coat comes from a recessive gene which can only be inherited from the Poodle side. Parti Goldendoodles are seen in later generations such as the F1b or F1bb generation.

F1b Parti Goldendoodle

A Parti F1b Goldendoodle is created by crossing an F1 Goldendoodle with a purebred Parti Poodle that is either Toy, Miniature or Standard sized. The resulting dog is 25% Golden Retriever and 75% Poodle.

F1bb Parti Goldendoodle

A Parti F1bb Goldendoodle is a cross between an F1b Goldendoodle (Goldendoodle x Poodle) and a purebred Parti Poodle which can be Toy, Miniature or Standard sized. They are 12.5% Golden Retriever and 87.5% Poodle.

Parti Goldendoodle Shedding

Do Parti Goldendoodles Shed?

Parti Goldendoodles are classified as a light to non-shedding breed. As they are usually found in cross-back generations, they shed even less than the average Goldendoodle as they have a higher percentage of Poodle genes. Poodles shed a lot less than Golden Retrievers.

Are Parti Goldendoodles Hypoallergenic?

Parti Goldendoodles are hypoallergenic. The general rule is that the higher the percentage of Poodle genes, the more hypoallergenic the Goldendoodle is. Parti Goldendoodles are very hypoallergenic as they are usually found in cross-back generations like F1b and F1bb.

You can make your dog even more hypoallergenic by keeping up a good grooming routine as it will stop them from releasing allergens into your home.

Your dog’s grooming routine should include both brushing and bathing. A brush down with a slicker brush every other day is ideal to remove any loose hairs. As for washing, a bath with a gentle dog shampoo every 3 months will remove dead skin cells, dirt and debris.

This may not seem that often but you don’t want to over wash your dog otherwise their coat will dry out which will only cause flaky skin which is an allergy irritant.
