What Is A Mini Maltipoo?
A Mini Maltipoo is a cross between a Miniature Poodle and a Maltese. They are the second largest Maltipoo size. Mini Maltipoos have a gentle and affectionate temperament. Their small size with their fluffy coats that are cream, white, grey or apricot paired with their floppy ears make them super adorable!

Do Mini Maltipoos Shed?
Mini Maltipoos are classified as light to non-shedders. They only drop a little bit of hair here and there throughout the year and do not go through heavy seasonal shedding like other breeds. Both of their parents, the Maltese and the Miniature Poodle do not shed much which is why they have inherited this characteristic.
It is important to realise that there is no such thing as a totally non-shedding dog and that Maltipoos along with other poodle mixes are the closest to this definition.
Are Mini Maltipoos Hypoallergenic?
Mini Maltipoos are hypoallergenic as they are very light shedders and do not release much allergy inducing dander (dead skin cells) into the environment when they shed. Mini Maltipoo Generations
F1 Mini Maltipoo
An F1 Mini Maltipoo is the first generation of the breed created by crossing a purebred Maltese with a purebred Miniature Poodle. An F1 Mini Maltipoo is 50% Maltese and 50% Miniature Poodle.
F1b Mini Maltipoo
The “F” in F1b Mini Maltipoo means “filial”, the “1” means first generation and the “b” means back-cross. An F1b Mini Maltipoo is created by crossing a F1 Mini Maltipoo with a purebred Miniature Poodle. The resulting dog is 25% Maltese and 75% Miniature Poodle.
F2 Mini Maltipoo
An F2 Mini Maltipoo is the second generation of the breed created by breeding a F1 Mini Maltipoo with another F1 Mini Maltipoo. They are 50% Maltese and 50% Miniature Poodle.

Mini Maltipoo Coat Colors
Black Mini Maltipoo
Black Mini Maltipoos feature a solid black coat. They may have small white patches over their body like on their chest or paws however these as technically Black and White Mini Maltipoos. Mini Maltipoos can only be this color if the Miniature Poodle has a black coat as purebred Malteses are never black.
Brown Mini Maltipoo
Brown Mini Maltipoos feature a coat that can range from a light to dark brown. Their coats can change color as they mature with most fading into a lighter coffee color that is often called ‘café au lait’. Brown Mini Maltipoos are also called Chocolate Mini Maltipoos.
Red Mini Maltipoo
Red Mini Maltipoos come in a variety of shades from light red to dark red. Their coats can be anywhere from a reddish cream to a rusty brown color. Only the Miniature Poodle carries the genes for a red coat so Red Mini Maltipoos are usually created by breeding a Red Miniature Poodle with a White Maltese. Mini Maltipoos with lighter red coats are usually called Apricot Mini Maltipoos.
Apricot Mini Maltipoo
Apricot Mini Maltipoos have very light red coats with peachy undertones. It is somewhere between a light red and a cream. Only the Miniature Poodle carries the genes for an apricot coat so Apricot Mini Maltipoos are usually created by breeding an Apricot or Red Miniature Poodle with a White or Cream Maltese.
White Mini Maltipoo
White Mini Maltipoos feature a solid white coat. It may also be off-white or more of a cream color. Both Miniature Poodles and Malteses can come in white so White Mini Maltipoos are quite easy to breed. They are one of the most common Mini Maltipoo colors.
Mini Maltipoo Exercise Needs
While Mini Maltipoos are a small dog, they are still full of energy and need to exercise daily to use it all up. They need between 30 an 60 minutes of exercise each day. Mini Maltipoos enjoy going on short walks, running and playing games. Mental exercise is also required so they don’t get bored.
Mini Maltipoo Training
Mini Maltipoos are very intelligent so they respond very well to training. You should start teaching your Mini Maltipoo basic commands such as their name, sit, stay and come from the moment they arrive home. You can then progress to more difficult tricks and commands.

The main difference between a Toy Maltipoo and a Mini Maltipoo is size. Toy Maltipoos get to a height of 8 to 10 inches (20.3cm to 25.4cm) when fully grown and weigh just under 10 pounds (under 4.5kg) while Mini Maltipoos get to a height of 10 to 12 inches (25.4cm to 30.5cm) when fully grown and weigh 10 to 20 pounds (4.5kg to 9.1kg). There are no significant differences in temperament between a Toy Maltipoo and a Mini Maltipoo.
