Red Maltipoos come in a variety of shades from light red to dark red. Their coats can be anywhere from a reddish cream to a rusty brown color. Only the Poodle carries the genes for a red coat so Red Maltipoos are usually created by breeding a Red Poodle with a White Maltese. Apricot Maltipoo

An Apricot Maltipoo has a very light red coat which has a peachy tone. It is somewhere between a light red and a cream. Only the Poodle carries the genes for an apricot coat so Apricot Maltipoos are usually created by breeding an Apricot or Red Poodle with a White or Cream Maltese.

Are Apricot Maltipoos Rare?

Apricot Maltipoos are not that rare. They are not as common as White or Cream Maltipoos but are not as rare as Black, Grey, Phantom or Chocolate Maltipoos. They are about the third most common Maltipoo color.

What Is A Phantom Maltipoo?

Phantom Maltipoos have a coat with a solid background and a secondary color in patches in very specific locations. These locations include the chin, throat, chest, legs, beneath their tail, above their eyes or on the sides of their muzzle. Most Phantom Maltipoos are black and tan. Phantom Maltipoos are different from Parti Maltipoos as Parti Maltipoos can have patches anywhere on their body.

Phantom Maltipoos are one of the rarest coat colors/patterns. While Malteses and Poodles can both come in bi-color coats, Phantom Maltipoos are rare because the patches of their secondary color have to be in very specific locations. Not many Maltipoos perfectly fit the definition of phantom.

Chocolate Maltipoos feature a coat that can range from a light to dark brown. Their coats can change color as they mature with most fading into a lighter coffee color that is often called ‘café au lait’.
