Shedding & Grooming

Yes, Toy Cockapoos shed but only a minimal amount. People who are thinking about buying a Toy Cockapoo need to realise that there is no such thing as a totally non-shedding breed. A Cockapoo along with other Poodle mixes are the closest thing one will find to a non-shedding dog.

Yes, Toy Cockapoos are hypoallergenic as they are a low shedding breed and therefore do not release much dander into their surroundings that can cause allergies. Toy Cockapoos that have a higher percentage of Poodle in them are even more hypoallergenic than 50/50 Poodle to Cocker Spaniel mixes.

You can make your dog even more hypoallergenic by keeping up a good grooming routine as it will stop them from releasing allergens into your home.

Your dog’s grooming routine should include both brushing and bathing. A brush down with a slicker brush every other day is ideal to remove any loose hairs. As for washing, a bath with a gentle dog shampoo every 3 months will remove dead skin cells, dirt and debris.

This may not seem that often but you don’t want to over wash your dog otherwise their coat will dry out which will only cause flaky skin which is an allergy irritant.

Toy Cockapoo Haircuts

There are many different haircuts for Toy Cockapoos. The most popular ones include the summer cut, cocker cut, lamb cut, puppy cut and teddy bear cut. They should get their hair cut every 3 to 4 months.

Toy Cockapoo Exercise

*Pro Tip: If you want to ensure that your dog is getting enough exercise daily, you can use a health monitoring collar such as the FitBark Collar that monitors your dog’s everyday activity and sleep and turns that data into deep, actionable health insights.

Toy Cockapoo Training

Toy Cockapoos are considered to be one of the easiest dog breeds to train as they are highly intelligent and also very obedient. You can get the best results when training a Toy Cockapoo with positive reinforcement. This is when you reward your dog for good behavior with treats or their favorite toy.

  • It’s interesting to know that teacup puppies are actually a separate category from toy puppies. I will keep that in mind when looking for a cockapoo to buy. I’ve always wanted to have a dog like that since I was a kid so it might be time to finally take care of one.
