How Size Affects Cockapoo Price

The general rule is that the smaller the Cockapoo, the more expensive it is. In price order from cheapest to most expensive is the Standard/Maxi, Miniature, Toy and then Teacup Cockapoo. Sometimes Teacup Cockapoos are cheaper than Toy Cockapoos as they are not as healthy. Tiny dogs like Teacup Cockapoos often suffer from size related health issues so be careful if you are thinking about getting one.

Teacup Cockapoo Price

Teacup Cockapoos are the most expensive size as they take multiple generations to breed and need much more medical attention than other Cockapoo sizes. Teacup Cockapoos sell for prices between $3000USD and $4800USD.

Toy Cockapoo Price

Toy Cockapoos are the second most expensive Cockapoo size. They sell for prices between $3000USD and $4500USD. Toy Cockapoos are so expensive because they are a part of extremely small litters.

Miniature Cockapoo Price

Miniature Cockapoos are one of the most popular Cockapoo sizes as they are slightly smaller than the Standard/Maxi Cockapoo but don’t have all the size-related health issues of the Teacup or Toy Cockapoo. They sell for prices between $2000USD and $4500USD.

Standard (Maxi) Cockapoo Price

The Standard Cockapoo, also known as the Maxi Cockapoo, usually sells for prices between $1600USD and $4000USD. They are usually slightly cheaper than Miniature Cockapoos.

Red Cockapoo Price

Red Cockapoos usually cost between $2500USD and $4000USD. Their average price is roughly $3000USD. Red Cockapoos come in a range of colors from a very light shade similar to strawberry blonde to a dark chestnut red. The red we refer to here is a darker shade as lighter red shades are often referred to as apricot.

How Generation Affects Cockapoo Price

F1 Cockapoo Price

F1 Cockapoos cost between $1600USD and $4000USD. F1 Cockapoos are the easiest to breed which explains their relatively lower price point compared to other generations. This is because it is the first generation so breeders don’t have to meticulously track lineage.

F1b Cockapoo Price

F1b Cockapoos cost between $2000USD and $4800USD. F1b Cockapoos are more expensive than F1 Cockapoos as they are more hypoallergenic. This is because they have a higher percentage of Poodle genes as they are the result of breeding a F1 Cockapoo back to a purebred Poodle. They are 75% Poodle and 25% Cocker Spaniel. They are also more expensive because they take longer to breed.

F2 Cockapoo Price

F2 Cockapoos cost between $2000USD and $4200USD. It may not seem logical that F2 Cockapoos are slightly more expensive than F1 Cockapoos as they are the second generation. While the health benefits of cross breeding has decreased as they are the second generation, they are more expensive as their appearance is more predictable.

How Lineage Affects Cockapoo Price

There are two types of Cocker Spaniel a Poodle can be bred with to create a Cockapoo. One is the American Cocker Spaniel and the other is the English Cocker Spaniel. The main difference between an American and English Black and White Cocker Spaniel is the shape of their head and muzzle. An American Cocker Spaniel has a dome shaped skull with a short muzzle while an English Cocker Spaniel has a more elongated head with a long muzzle.

American vs English Cockapoo Price

American Cocker Spaniels are usually a bit cheaper than English Cocker Spaniels, meaning that American Cockapoos may be cheaper than English Cockapoos. That being said, there are so many other factors that play into the price of a Cockapoo that the price difference between an American and an English Cocker Spaniel parent is not going to affect the price of their puppies that much.

Adult vs Puppy Price

Full Grown Cockapoo Price

Full grown Cockapoos are cheaper than Cockapoo puppies as they are no longer in their prime. In most cases, you can find full grown Cockapoos at adoption or rescue centres for a fee between $50USD and $1000USD. Just be aware that Cockapoos are a designer dog breed so if they do get turned into a rescue centre, they will get adopted very quickly!

Puppy Cockapoo Price

Puppy Cockapoos are much more expensive than adult Cavapoos as the first 8 weeks of life are very intense. Breeders have to constantly watch over puppies and they also have to take them to multiple veterinary appointments for vaccinations and general health checks which are very expensive.

Cockapoo Grooming Cost

The cost of grooming a Cockapoos is less than other Doodles because they are relatively small and don’t take as long to groom. The average base price at most salons for grooming Doodles under 40 pounds is $60 to $100 so you can expect your Cockapoo grooming cost to be in that range. This would be done once a month including nail clipping, ear cleaning, haircuts and a bath.

To save some money you can learn how to groom your Cockapoo with YouTube tutorials and buy an at home dog grooming kit.

Cockapoo Desexing Cost

On average it costs $500 to $800 to spay a female Cockapoo. The cost of spaying a Cockapoo is relatively low as they are a smaller sized dog. The cost also depends on the age of your Cockapoo. It is generally cheaper to spay a young Cockapoo that has not gone through their first heat than one that has. There can also be variation in spaying costs depending on where you live.

Neutering a male Cockapoo is a bit cheaper than spaying a female Cockapoo as the surgery is not as complicated. It costs around $250USD and $500USD to neuter a male Cockapoo.

Cockapoo Yearly Cost

After the first year of ownership, the yearly cost of owning a Cockapoo will be much less unless your dog becomes unwell and requires unexpected medical attention. Yearly costs include food, treats, grooming, deworming/flea/tick tablets, vaccinations, annual vet visits and replacement of supplies such as toys, beds, leashes and collars. There are many other additional expenses you may incur such as:

  • Pet insurance
  • Doggy day care
  • Dog walker
  • Dog sitter
  • Kennels when you travel
  • Grooming services
  • Medical treatment
  • Kennel club registration
  • Puppy school/training classes
