Apricot Poodles have very light red coats with peachy undertones. The coat color is somewhere between a light red and a cream. Apricot Poodles have a lean build with very long legs, a long muzzle and long floppy ears. Their noses, eyes and eye rims are dark brown or black. They also usually have dark nails. Do Apricot Poodles Change Color?

Apricot Poodles can fade with age however not all will. Poodles can have the ‘fading gene’, ‘dilution’ gene or ‘progressive graying’ gene which can cause coat color changes. These changes will usually occur within the first two years of their life however not all Apricot Poodles will change color. If an Apricot Poodle changes color, their apricot coat will fade to a cream color.

Apricot Poodles can also change color from UV light exposure. If your Apricot Poodle spends a lot of time out in the sun, it is likely that their coat will fade to a cream color.

Apricot Parti Poodle

Apricot Parti Poodles have a white base coat that covers at least 50% of their body with apricot patches. The apricot patches are usually located on their ears, around their eyes and on their backs. The apricot patches are very light in color and are somewhere between a light red and a cream with peachy undertones.

Like solid Apricot Poodles, the red patches of an Apricot Parti Poodle can fade. If these changes occur, it will be within the first two years of their lives which will make them look like a cream and white Poodle.

Light Apricot Poodles have a coat that is almost cream in color with peachy undertones. A lot of Apricot Poodles end up being Light Apricot Poodles as adults as their coats fade with age.

Black and Apricot Poodle

Black and Apricot Poodles are a type of Phantom Poodle. Phantom Poodles have a coat with a solid background and a secondary color in patches in very specific locations. These locations include the chin, throat, chest, legs, beneath their tail, above their eyes or on the sides of their muzzle. In this case the solid background is black and the secondary color is apricot. While you can get Black and Apricot Phantom Poodles, most Phantom Poodles are black and tan.

Sable Poodles have hairs that are black-tipped with roots in a lighter solid color, specifically apricot. The sable hairs cover most of their body and they usually have a white patches on their chest, muzzle and paws. Cream Poodles have an off-white coat while Apricot Poodles have a light coat with red undertones. Cream Poodles have a much lighter coat than Apricot Poodles. Your dog’s grooming routine should include both brushing and bathing. A brush down with a slicker brush every other day is ideal to remove any loose hairs. As for washing, a bath with a gentle dog shampoo every 3 months will remove dead skin cells, dirt and debris.
