The Whoodle (AKA Wheatendoodle or Wheatenpoo) is a cross breed between a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and a Poodle. As a hybrid breed there can be lots of variation in Whoodle size depending on the size of their respective parents. The 3 most common Whoodle sizes are Toy, Miniature and Standard. As it is a relatively new breed, there are no sizing standards so we have provided a Whoodle size guide below.

What Is A Toy Whoodle?

A Toy Whoodle is a cross between a Toy Poodle and a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. They are the smallest Whoodle size. Toy Whoodles are not very common as most breeders cross Wheaten Terriers with either Miniature Poodles or Standard Poodles. Toy Whoodles have a similar temperament to the larger sizes of Whoodle as they are friendly and outgoing in most situations. However, Toy Whoodles can be a lot more timid due to their small size. Toy Whoodles have a curly coat texture and can come in many coat colors such as white, cream, grey, red, black and gold.

Toy Whoodles get to a height of 10 to 14 inches (25.4cm to 35.6cm) tall at the shoulder and weighs between 15 and 25 pounds (6.8kg to 11.3kg). They reach their full adult size at the age of 9 months.

What Is A Mini Whoodle?

A Miniature Whoodle is a cross between a Miniature Poodle and a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. They have an outgoing and friendly temperament which make them good with families. Mini Whoodles are a very active breed meaning that they need to have lots of exercise daily. They are also very intelligent. Mini Whoodles have curly coats that come in many colors such as red, white, cream, black, grey and gold.

How Big Does A Mini Whoodle Get?

A Mini Whoodle gets to a height of 14 to 16 inches (35.6cm to 40.6cm) tall at the shoulder and weighs between 25 and 35 pounds (11.3kg and 15.8kg). They reach this size at roughly 10 months of age.

Mini Whoodles are classified as a non to low shedding breed. They only drop a few hairs here and there and do not go through seasonal shedding like other breeds. This is not surprising considering both the Poodle and the Wheaten Terrier do not shed much at all either.

What Size Crate For A Mini Whoodle?

What Is A Whoodle Dog?

A Whoodle Dog is a hybrid breed that is the result of crossing a Poodle with a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. The Standard Whoodle is a Wheaten Terrier crossed with a Standard Poodle while smaller sizes are crossed with Miniature Poodles or Toy Poodles. Whoodles are not as common or popular as other Poodle Mixes such as Goldendoodles, Labradoodles and Cavapoos however they are just as intelligent and have a friendly, outgoing temperament.

A fully grown Whoodle is 16 to 20 inches (40.6cm to 50.8cm) tall and weighs between 35 and 50 pounds (15.9kg to 22.7kg). There can be a lot of variation in Whoodle height and weight as they are a mixed breed dog. It is best to look at the height and weight of the respective parents to get a better estimate of their adult size. Standard Whoodles reach their full adult size between 12 and 14 months of age.

Whoodles are rare. Not many breeders mix Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers with Poodles so it can be difficult to find them. One reason why not many breeders create Whoodles is because they are not as well known as other Poodle mixes such as Cavapoos, Goldendoodles or Labradoodles. Additionally, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are rare themselves so it is unlikely that they are going to be bred with Poodles.

Are Whoodles Hypoallergenic?

Yes, Whoodles are considered to be a hypoallergenic breed as they do not release much dander into their surroundings when they shed.
