Double Doodles (Golden Retriever x Labrador Retriever x Poodle) are a hybrid-hybrid mixed breed dog that has become very popular in recent years, the result of breeding a Labradoodle with a Goldendoodle. As they are mixed breed there can be a lot of variation in Double Doodle size depending on the size of the respective parents. The two most common Double Doodles sizes are the Mini and Standard Double Doodle. As the Double Doodle is a relatively new breed, there are no sizing standards so we have provided a Double Doodle size guide below.

A Mini Double Doodle is a hybrid-hybrid mixed breed consisting of a mix of Labrador, Golden Retriever and a Miniature Poodle. Mini Double Doodles are created by breeding a Mini Labradoodle with a Mini Goldendoodle. The resulting dog is 50% Miniature Poodle, 25% Labrador Retriever and 25% Golden Retriever.

Mini Double Doodles get to a height of 13 to 18 inches (33.0cm to 45.7cm) at the shoulder and weigh between 13 and 30 pounds (5.9kg to 13.6kg) when fully grown. They reach their full adult size between 9 and 12 months of age.

Mini Double Doodle Lifespan

Mini Double Doodles have a lifespan of 12 to 16 years. They have a slightly longer lifespan than Standard Double Doodles as smaller dogs generally live longer than large dog breeds. To give your Mini Double Doodle the best chance of living a long life, make sure that you give them adequate daily exercise and that you feed them a healthy, balanced diet.

What Does A Double Doodle Look Like?

The most distinctive feature of a Double Doodle is that they have a super dense medium length coat that has a shaggy texture. They look very similar to Goldendoodles and Labradoodles so it can be difficult to differentiate a Double Doodle from the appearance of the parent breeds. Double Doodles come in many colors including golden, black, cream, tan, brown or white. They usually have dark brown or black button shaped eyes, long floppy ears and a black nose.

How Big Does A Double Doodle Get?

A Double Doodle gets to a height of 20 to 29 inches (50.8cm to 73.66cm) tall at the shoulder and weighs between 50 and 80 lbs (22.7kg to 36.3kg). They are considered to be a medium to large sized breed. Double Doodles get to their full adult size between 14 and 18 months of age.

Double Doodle Lifespan

Double Doodles have a lifespan of 12 to 15 years. Their lifespan is slightly shorter than that of a Mini Double Doodle as larger dogs generally have shorter lifespans. As they are a hybrid dog, Double Doodles do not suffer from as many genetic health issues as the purebred Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever or Poodle meaning that they have a longer lifespan than their ancestors.

What Is A F1b Double Doodle?

A F1b Double Doodle is a F1 Double Doodle that has been crossed back to a Poodle. The resulting dog is 75% Poodle, 12.5% Labrador Retriever and 12.5% Golden Retriever.

F1b Double Doodles are extremely rare. Hardly any breeders create this generation of dog as a Double Doodle is already a complex hybrid-hybrid mixed breed and is not that popular in comparison to other doodle breeds.

What Is A F2 Double Doodle?

A F2 Double Doodle is the second generation of the breed. Instead of breeding a Goldendoodle with a Labradoodle, the breeder has bred two F1 Double Doodles (first generation) together. They are still 50% Poodle, 25% Labrador Retriever and 25% Golden Retriever like the F1 Double Doodle.
