If you really love your dog you would make sure it’s sleeping quarters are as comfortable as possible. Luckily there are some super simple steps you can take to transform your dog’s crate into a super comfy resting spot!

So how do you make a dog crate more comfortable? To make a dog crate more comfortable you should add a dog crate liner to cover the cold metal floor. Drape a blanket over the top of the crate to create a dark and cozy environment. Put some dog toys inside so your dog has something to play with.

What should I put inside my dog’s crate? You should put a dog crate liner or a plushy dog bed inside your dog’s crate to cover the cold metal floor. In winter you should also put a dog blanket inside to keep your dog warm. You can also put in dog toys but this is optional.

Do you put a dog bed in a crate? Yes, you can put a dog bed in a crate. This will provide your dog with a comfortable spot to rest and will protect them from the cold of the hard, metal floor. Alternatively, you can put a dog crate liner in a crate instead of a bed.

2. Keep Your Dog Warm With A Blanket

The next best way to make your dog crate super comfortable is to add a dog blanket. You will not always need a blanket it your dog’s crate, especially in hot weather in summer. However it is an essential for winter, especially if you do not heat your house too much. You don’t want your dog waking up in the middle of the night shivering!

Some people also like to drape a blanket over the top of their crate to make it a more cozy environment and also darker for your dog. This is a good idea for crates that are mainly mesh and get let lots of light in. Just be careful that you don’t totally cover the crate and there is still ways for fresh air to come it. Adequate ventilation is important.

Is it ok to put a blanket in my puppy’s crate? If you are supervising your puppy it is okay to put a blanket in their crate. However, if you puppy is unsupervised they could start chewing and ripping up the blanket which poses as a choking hazard.

Hard, chew toys are the best type of toys for a dog crate as they are very hard to destroy and will thus last a long time. They are also safer in comparison to soft toys that can be pulled apart. You just need to be there to keep an eye on your dog to make sure he/she isn’t getting up to any mischief.

It is super important to keep your dog hydrated so you need to add a water source inside your dog crate, especially if you keep the dog crate door closed.

There are three main types of water sources for dog crates:
