F1b Sheepadoodles have an easy going temperament. They are often described as being veryy calm and gentle but also quite playful which makes them a perfect addition to a growing family. They are also very loving and obedient.

F1b Sheepadoodles are also a very smart dog breed. Both the Poodle and the Old English Sheepdog are intelligent so it is no surprise their offspring are as well. In fact, Poodles are ranked second out of all dog breeds for intelligence.

Do F1b Sheepadoodles Shed?

F1b Sheepadoodles are classified to a light to non-shedding breed and shed even less than F1 Sheepadoodles. F1b Sheepadoodles like other cross-back generations of the breed shed less than F1 Sheepadoodles as they have a higher percentage of Poodle genes.

One of the reasons why the Poodle was originally crossed with the Old English Sheepdog was to reduce the heavy shedding characteristic of the Old English Sheepdog whilst retaining its good nature and temperament.

Are F1b Sheepadoodles Hypoallergenic?

Yes, F1b Sheepadoodles are hypoallergenic as they don’t release much dander (dead skin cells) into their immediate environment when they shed. F1b Sheepadoodles are more hypoallergenic than F1 Sheepadoodles as they are cross-backed to a Poodle which is a more hypoallergenic breed than the Old English Sheepdog.

You can make your dog even more hypoallergenic by keeping up a good grooming routine as it will stop them from releasing allergens into your home.

Your dog’s grooming routine should include both brushing and bathing. A brush down with a slicker brush every other day is ideal to remove any loose hairs. As for washing, a bath with a gentle dog shampoo every 3 months will remove dead skin cells, dirt and debris.

They inherit this coat color from the Poodle so it is quite common in back-cross generations like F1b or F1bb.

Black and White F1b Sheepadoodle

Black and White F1b Sheepadoodles are very common. In most cases they are mainly white with black patches however they can also be the reverse where they are mainly black with white patches. They inherit their coloring from the Old English Sheepdog. It is very common to see this coat color in Reverse F1b Sheepadoodles.

Merle F1b Sheepadoodle

Merle F1b Sheepadoodles have mottled patches of different colors on their coat as they carry the merle gene which dilutes certain sections of their black coat. This gene also affects eye color and skin pigmentation on the nose and paws.
